David Morstad is the author of Whole Community: Introducing Faith Communities to People with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities. Following a career with Bethesda Lutheran Communities that included numerous classroom and administrative roles, he has continued his work as a writer, speaker, and consultant. For more than 40 years, David has been a disability advocate among congregations and professional organizations across the US, Europe, Central America, and the Baltic nations. He is a member and past chair of the Governor’s Committee for People with Disabilities in Wisconsin and proudly serves on the Faith Inclusion Network Board of Directors.

People in communities of faith are uniquely positioned for an indispensable role in the future of supports and partnership with those who have disabilities. They are prepared to do what few other organizations, no matter how well-intentioned or well-funded can do, not only because of their altruistic nature, but because of their very practical and purposeful way of being. The session provides ten reasons why this is true and how it is lived out.
